January Newsletter
Happy New year!
We are in for a cold month. Please make sure that your child always brings appropriate outdoor clothing for recess.
Digitial Citizenship and coding
This month, we will begin a series of lessons on digitial citizenship called Be Internet Awesome. It is a great way of beginning discussions about how to be safe and protect personal information while on the internet. In the coming months, we will also be doing some coding lessons using ScratchJr through a program called Coding Trek.
Lice at school
There have been a few reports of lice in our class, grade and throughout the school. Here is some helpful information regarding lice and how to properly treat a case of head lice.

Learning goals for January
French language artsIn FLA, we will continue to write in our journals and focus on our Mots de la semaine. We will also be starting our persuasive writing unit. For this unit, I have asked students to bring a small collection to school that they can use to inspire their writing.
MathematicsWe will continue to do daily Number Talks. We will begin to work on 2, 3-digit subtraction. I encourage students to also practice this skill at home as it can be quite challenging, especially in problems where borrowing is required.
