December is going to be a very busy month for 3A.
The Christmas concert will be on December 6.
We will be having a Social Studies presentation on the afternoon of December 18.
There are a few fun events planned for late December, including a book exchange, a STEM snowflake challenge and special event to celebrate publishing our first French books based on small moments in our lives. More information about our holiday celebrations will be sent home later in the month.

Math project
This month, students will be working on their addition skills though a math project about planning a holiday party with a $1000 budget. In order to make this project a success, we need your help! We are requesting donations of flyers that include any holiday items from decorations to food to gifts. If you have any flyers that you are able to donate, please send them to school during the first two weeks of December. Merci beaucoup!
Reports cards published December 5
Our new Communicating Student Learning will be available online the afternoon of December 5. This year, your child will not be bringing home a paper copy of their report card.
Here is a quick review about the report card comments and marking scale.
The report card includes 3 comments.
General Learner Comments are an overall glimpse at your child's performance at school. I usually focus on behaviour, social interactions and work ethic.
Areas of Strength focus on academic achievements made throughout the year.
Next Steps are goals for both school and home. They may include strategies that students are working on or specific areas of need, such as French sounds, sight words and math facts, that should be practiced at home. This website contains links to a variety of websites that you can access to help support your child in these areas.
Our marking system is a 5-point scale.
5 - The student is excelling in this area. He is consistently able to complete challenging tasks independently even in new situations.
4 - The student is meeting learning expectations for this time in the year. She is able to complete some new and challenging tasks with a little help.
3 - The student is meeting learning expectations for this time in the year. He is able to complete familiar tasks with some help.
2 - The student is approaching learning expectations for this time in the year. She needs help to complete familiar tasks.
1 - The student is below learning expectations for this time in the year. He struggles to complete familiar tasks even with help.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the report card or your child's achievement.
